I recently discovered Warby Parker prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. Their #SeeSummerBetter campaign is inspiring people to capture all of their experiences during this summer season. They have created high quality, stylish frames for reasonable prices. With their home try-on system, you select 5 pair of frames that you want to try and they ship them to you for free. You keep them for 5 days, you buy the pair(s) you like and send the others back. If that’s not enough to peek your interest, for every pair they sell a pair is donated to someone in need! Warby Parker’s new frames will have you seeing summer better all throughout the season.

Speaking of Summer, in an effort to try and squeeze the last few weeks out of summer break, we decided to take a weekend trip to our nation’s capitol.  I absolutely love Washington, D.C.  It’s so beautiful in the summertime.

One of my favorite attractions in D.C. is the Lincoln Memorial.   It doesn’t matter how many times I have seen the statue, it just never gets old to me.  I have this child-like amazement with things that are larger than life.  The structure that President Lincoln sits in is a nod to Ancient Greek architecture and has stairs that lead up to the main statue room.  When you get to the top of the stairs what you see is so overwhelming.  Lincoln’s statue, made of Georgia white marble sits up about 19 feet high and the 60 foot walls around him are etched with some of his most famous speeches.  It’s just a beautiful experience and you can feel the history and sacredness of the moment.  Another great part of the trip was seeing all of these things through the eyes of my kids.  They have such an innocence and newness about life, it really just makes you appreciate all of the little things, especially the joy of summer vacation.

There is so much to do in D.C.   There are a ton of museums, most of them are free and open to the public, there are amazing restaurants and food, and some of the most breathtaking views.  It will definitely take some time to do everything so make sure to give yourself a few days.  Washington, D.C. is steeped in so much of America’s history, so many of the buildings are so old and have been there for decades, centuries even.  It attracts people from all walks of life and from all over there world. To me it really represents what summer is all about.  Traveling, spending time with friends and family, seeing and exploring new things.  #SeeSummerBetter
