Style Inspiration Series: Re-create Olivia Palermo’s Style

What’s up guys! I have been away for a few days so I could spend some time with the hubs! He works all of the time and we never really get to spend any time together.  I’ve also been binge watching the first season of “The Strain”.  Not sure if I like it yet, but I had to see it for myself because I have been hearing so much about it.    I miss talking to guys when I am away, but I’m back!

I hope you guys are as excited about this series as I am.  I am always looking for inspiration and new ways to re-vamp my look. Olivia Palermo really makes me want to try some things that I would normally never do.   She puts pieces together that most people wouldn’t even think of.  Here are some ways to re-create her amazing style.

 

There are a few basic elements to Olivia Palermo’s style that you will see in most all of her looks:

1.  Her outfits are always put together.  She will either have a belt or blazer or some finishing touch to make the look complete.

2.  She wears a lot of feminine pieces.  You will always see Olivia in something girly and feminine.  She wears a lot of dresses and skirts and very flowy tops.  Pieces that are soft and fitting the body.

3.  She mixes a lot of different prints and textures.  Olivia is famous for doing this.  She wears a lot of prints and she is very good at combining them and making them work together.

4.  Her looks always accentuate her best features.  Olivia has great legs so she often has on wears shorter skirts and dresses, and even if she has on a fuller length skirt it has some sort of a split that shows off her legs.

5.  Olivia is certainly not afraid to wear color.  She doesn’t just stick to basic blacks or neutral tones.  If you notice a lot of her looks have a splash of color somewhere.

6.  She is not afraid to take risks when it comes to her style.  Olivia is very brave and likes to try new things.  This is what really keeps her at the top of her style game and why she is often caught by the cameras.

You can achieve the same flawless looks everyday by trying something different and thinking outside the boxWhen mixing prints you should find ones that are similar in size, pattern and/or color. Go with pieces that compliment each other or bring out a color in a less dominant piece. Everything doesn’t have to be an exact match. Remember outside the box!

 

Style these feminine pieces with accessories that stand out.  A deeper color belt and bag will add depth and layers to this look.  Keeping jewelry neutral will allow the focus on the other pieces.  Add a jacket or sweater for a more finished look.

 

Choose a colorful shoe that stands out to style with a solid color dress.  Find jewelry that is  similar to the tones in the shoe.  The bag should be neutral if the shoe will be the star of the look.

 

Great style is about evolving, it’s about never getting stuck in one look or one way of thinking.  I think any style icon has the ability to evolve with the change in the fashion season.  They can take what’s new and make it there own.  They are always learning and growing and finding inspiration from others with great style.  I believe anybody has the potential to be a style icon.  It takes making bold style choices and being open to trying something different every time you get dressed!
